MF/UF Membranes in Municipal Water Treatment
The application of MF/UF membranes as a process to produce high quality drinking water was studied extensively in the 1980’s. By the early 1990’s, the technology benefited from rapid adoption. Today, MF/UF membranes are widely accepted as a viable treatment process for water production in both small and large scale municipal operations. Driven by increasingly stringent drinking water standards that require higher levels of turbidity removal and microbial control, MF/UF membranes have also demonstrated a high level of success in achieving a variety of water quality objectives when used in combination with other operating/treatment strategies. In addition to drinking water production, MF/UF membranes have proven to be an important treatment process in municipal waste water reuse/reclamation applications.
Nanostone Water’s Ceramic UF membrane offers the well recognized benefits of ceramics at a cost comparable to polymeric membranes. Significantly longer life cycles and lower maintenance requirements are expected to add to the value delivered to these applications.
