China Huadian Jiangsu Power Jurong power plant FGD wastewater zero liquid discharge project was awarded the Engineering Star Award

Nanostone Water has been active in the power industry in China for several years. We have supplied membranes to power plants for applications including boiler feedwater, cooling tower blowdown treatment, and recently for FGD wastewater. We recently supplied membranes for a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) treatment plant at China Huadian Jiangsu Power Co., Ltd. Jurong Power Plant. We are pleased to announce that the project was successfully commissioned earlier this year and was awarded the Engineering Star Award at the International Water Conference in Qingdao on June 25, 2019.

This is the biggest FGD wastewater ZLD project in China yet. The overall process used lime softening, Nanostone CM-151 ceramic UF, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, and crystallization to achieve zero liquid discharge and produce salt. The Nanostone CM-151 membrane was demonstrated to provide the only really effective pretreatment for the downstream processes. FGD wastewater is recognized as being the most difficult waste stream in the power industry, and the CM-151 membrane is designed to handle it with ease. We are proud to have been selected for this project which will provide not just economic benefits for the factory, but social and environmental benefits for the region as a whole.
